MariaDB v10 Upgrade

August 7, 2017

We are excited to announce that the v10 MariaDB server upgrade has completed. You now have access to new engines (https://mariadb.com/kb/en/mariadb/storage-engines/), multiple triggers (https://mariadb.com/kb/en/mariadb/trigger-overview/), and the use of WITH in your SQL queries (https://mariadb.com/kb/en/mariadb/with/). We will be updating our website, http://grid.rcs.hbs.org/database-management, to reflect the new changes and tools available to you.

Though we have not detected any issues related user accounts, data integrity, nor functions, it is important that each of our users validates they are able to access their data. We ask that you take a moment to verify that you are able to connect to your database(s) and can run a simple query. If you have any functions or triggers, then please test those as well.

As previously announced, you may now change your passwords. Our security policy requires passwords to be at least 12 characters long, with at least 1 digit, 1 lowercase letter, 1 uppercase letter, and 1 character that is neither a letter nor digit (e.g. @).

Please contact us at research@hbs.edu if you encounter any problems or if you have any questions.
